Checking – MIL

  • Switch ignition ON
  • Check MIL illuminates
  • Start engine. ¬†Allow to idle.
  • If MIL extinguishes, no trouble codes have been recorded.
  • If MIL remains illuminated, access trouble codes.

Accessing Trouble Codes

  • Switch ignition ON. Do NOT start engine.
  • Corolla – jump DLC terminals 1 and 2 with a short lead 1
  • Corolla sport – jump DLC terminals T and E1 with a short lead 2
  • MR2 – jump DLC terminals T and E1 with a short lead 3
  • Celica – jump DLC terminals T and E1 with a short lead 4
  • 4Runner/Pickup – jump DLC terminals T and E1 with a short lead 5
  • Count MIL flashes and compare with trouble code table below
  • Trouble codes are indicated by 0.5 second flashes
  • A 2.5 second pause occurs between codes
  • After a 4.5 second pause, trouble codes will be repeated
  • Switch ignition OFF
  • Remove jump lead

Clearing Trouble Codes

  • After the faults have been rectified, erase the trouble codes as follows:
  • Corolla/Sport – remove STOP fuse (15A) from LH kick panel fusebox for 10 seconds minimum
  • MR2 – remove AM2 fuse (7.5A) from No.2 underhood fusebox for 10 seconds minimum
  • Celica – remove EFI fuse (15A) from underhood fusebox for 10 seconds minimum
  • 4Runner/Pickup – remove EFI fuse (15A) from LH kick panel fusebox for 30 seconds minimum
  • Reinstall fuse
  • Repeat accessing procedure to ensure no data remains in ECM fault memory

  1. hello i have one problem with 4age 16v from celica st 162….i buy this engine to put it in my ae92 corolla ..i start the motor and at full throttle the engine stack in 4.000 rpm like rev limit….i have use other map or other tps and injectors and distributor and the same problems thank you a lot
