OBD2 Sensors >> Chrysler 3.9L Magnum V6 Engine Sensor Locations

View with engine cover installed.  2002 Dodge Dakota 3.9L MAGNUM V6
  1. Fuel injectors (bolted to each side of intake manifold)
  2. Camshaft position sensor (CMP) (located inside distributor at rear of engine)
  3. Oil pressure sensor (top side rear of engine by distributor)
  4. A/C High Pressure Switch (rear of a/c compressor)
  5. A/C Low Pressure Switch (top of a/c accumulator)
  6. Crankshaft position sensor (CKP) (located at the pass side rear of engine by the transmission)
  7. Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) (located behind alternator)
  8. Ignition coil (attached to pass. side cylinder head towards front of vehicle)
  9. Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 (screwed into driver side exhaust manifolds)
  10. Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 (screwed into pass side exhaust manifolds)
  11. Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) (under engine cover)
  12. Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP) (under throttle body attached to intake manifold)
  13. Intake Air Temp Sensor (on top of intake manifold at front of engine)
  14. Battery Temp Sensor (BTS) (mounted to battery tray under battery)

The camshaft position sensor on 2001dodge dakota v6 is not inside distributer its a big plug in style that goes on left side of engine .

All Dodge information and my 10 years as a Chrysler tech trainer show the camshaft position on a 2001 Dodge Dakota with the 3.9L engine inside the distributor.
On the 4.7L engine, it’s on the side of the block.
