Hello,
I have a 2014 Dodge Dart SXT Rallye 2.4 6 speed manual.
Battery light on dashboard illuminates during normal operation after about 20 miles, turn off engine and restart, light is not illuminated.
Drive for a short period, light illuminates.
1year old battery load tested three times, three different shops, all good test results. Alternator tested three times in three different shops, charging between 13.8 and 14.2, with battery light off or on.
Changing with the light on or off.
Code reader brought code P063A
Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks, Joe
Hello. The battery being only one year old and testing good leads me away from saying it is the battery. I’m honestly thinking the alternator needs replaced. 13.8 is not that great for charging voltage. The best thing I do when looking at an alternator is watch the meter for a good while, and if there is a problem, the alternator will intermittently drop or fall out for a couple seconds, then recover. Best regards.
