three weeks ago, I tried to start my car. It was cranking but did not start. I switched it off and turned it on and it started. This happened subsequently until my initial turn of the key the car did not crank. On the second turn it started until a day that it did not crank or start. Thinking it was the starter, i bought a starter. However, the last time the engine turned on, i got an error code “p061d”. I have doubts now that it is the starter. Is my Car (Lincoln MKX 2010 3.5 v6) fixable or should it be junked.

Does the starter crank the engine over? I was reading that aftermarket or poorly-installed air filters can cause erratic MAF readings, which shuts down the electronically-controlled throttle body. This would prevent engine starting, if the engine is turning over, that is.
I would start with a new OEM air filter, make sure it’s installed correctly, and clear DTCs. See what happens when you start the engine.
