I’m getting a P054C code on my 2012 F150 3.5 L eco-boost and wondering where I should start to fix this problem
Hello Chuck. The first place I would look is the variable cam timing systems. Look for oil restrictions in the camshaft position actuator, then test the vct solenoids. With a vct disconnected, test for proper resistance. It should be within 5-14 ohms. Then, jump a 5amp fused jumper wire from battery positive terminal to the vct solenoid power connector. If it clicks, then it is okay. If no click is heard, replace the variable cam timing solenoid. It is also helpful to go into the live data and graph the variable camshaft position actuator pids, intake and exhaust degree angles. If the values are not moving and fluctuating like they are supposed to under load, then I’d replace the camshaft position actuator, or (cam phaser).
