I replaced the crankshaft sensors because they are showing this code, and the mileage is 80k, and replacement is recommended. I am not getting the error to go away, do I need to do a drive cycle or keep chasing the other components in the hopes of getting this car to work for once in the life of my bmw plastic money pit?
Hello, you don’t have to shell out hundreds or thousands to fix this issue. Was this code set after you replaced your crankshaft sensors? Also how often are you changing oil on your beamer? I believe that your variable valve timing solenoids need taking out and cleaned. The best thing to clean these with is something like carb choke cleaner, maf sensor cleaner, or brake clean. After you have worked the sludged oil out of them, gently re-install them and erase the code. It may take a couple drive cycles to re check the input to set this code, but this should work for you. Also, it’d be good to change your oil alittle more frequently. After you replaced your ckp sensor, did you relean it? Cheers. And good luck.
