What Does Code P2192 Mean?
The P2192 code is very specific and can be broken down in order to fully understand it. “System too rich” indicates that there is excess fuel being added to the fuel/air intake. “at higher load” indicates this rich fuel/air mixture is only being detected when the engine is working harder (at higher RPMs, going up steep hills, or while towing). “Bank 1” indicates what part of the engine this is being detected in. Bank 1 is the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is found.
Where is the P2192 sensor located?
Bank 1 describes the side of the engine that houses the number 1 cylinder on a V-shaped engine. Straight or inline engines only have one bank, and therefor a P2192 code pertains to the entire engine.
What are the common causes of code P2192?
- Failing oxygen sensor
- Failing fuel injector
- Faulty fuel pressure regulator
- Faulty mass airflow sensor
- Powertrain control module issue
What are the symptoms of code P2192?
- Check engine light
- Lack of acceleration under a heavy load
- Misfiring
- Decreased fuel mileage
What are common solutions to code P2192?
Resolving the code may be as simple as replacing a faulty sensor, like an oxygen sensor or the mass airflow sensor, or it may be a more complicated fuel related issue.
How serious is code P2192?
The seriousness of this code will be determined by the vehicle’s performance. If the vehicle is driving like normal, you likely have more time to get the issue fixed. If the vehicle is suffering from other symptoms, you will want to have the problem resolved as soon as possible.
How safe is it to still drive the car with code P2192?
There are no direct threats present from driving a vehicle with a P2112 code present. If the vehicle is demonstrating other more serious symptoms, you may have driving issues and need to avoid using the vehicle.
What are the common mistakes when repairing code P2192?
Although it may seem like you have a code that is indicating a fuel-related issue, you are more likely to have an issue with the sensors that are needed to regulate the fuel/air mixture. Start with double checking the mass airflow sensor and the oxygen sensors first. Then you can spend time diagnosing a more serious fuel trim issue.
How do you troubleshoot code P2192?
Diagnosing a P2192 starts with comparing any an all other DTS (diagnostic troubleshooting codes) that are present or pending. Any code that pertains to the oxygen sensors, mass airflow sensor, or the fuel trim should take priority. Start by checking that particular system first.
A scan tool can also be used to test the oxygen sensor, or to monitor it, to see if it is working correctly or not. The same can be done with the mass airflow sensor and the manifold absolute pressure sensor (which may be one sensor on newer models). Replace the sensor that is not working correctly if needed.
If the issue is truly fuel pressure related, you will want to check for pressure at the fuel rail. If the fuel pressure is in an appropriate range, you will want to check the individual fuel injectors on bank 1 of the engine.

Erorr p2192 is sensor O2
Hi
My problem with this code I changed and test all sensors even I changed the computer also overhoule the engine then we changed throttle body controlle and crank sensor and nothing had been changed and the car doesn’t move more than 40 km/h unless the hybrid when its fully it can work as nothing happening up to 100 km/h.
Now I don’t know what to do and to check.
I need any one help
