Getting Started

First, read the Disclaimer , then once you understand the rules, you are ready to use the rest of the site.

No registration is required to post in the forums.
Enter your name, e-mail and subject of post in the upper lines.
Then enter your message. Be sure to include, year, make, model and engine in your post if it is a repair related problem.

E-mail notification
If you would like to be notified of replies to your post, then make sure the circle where it says "Notify me" is checked and that you have entered an accurate e-mail address. When a reply is made to your post, the program will send you an e-mail, letting you know there was a reply.

Cookies
If you wish for the program to automatically enter your name and e-mail when you post, click on the Remember me? Yes dot. The next post, the info will already be there. If you do not wish for it to remember you, then you don't need to do anything.
The No bullet is only for removing the cookie or changing your information. The information that the cookie stores is your name and e-mail only for the forum program use.

About Posting

Enter the forum relevant to your question. Domestics is Chrysler, Ford and GM.
Once you enter the forum, click on the Post Message link in the box under the name of the forum.
Once you have entered the information you want to post, click on the PREVIEW MESSAGE button.
You will then see how your post will look. If you are satisfied with it, click on the POST button and the message will post.
Now, here is the important part. DO NOT use the browser refresh/reload. USE the Refresh link on the page. Failure to use the page Refresh will result in multiple postings.
Please try to keep your replies in the thread you started, unless it falls too far down on the page, then you may start a new thread. Make reference to your original thread, so folks know what you are talking about.
If you post a link, we will decide if it may stay or not. If it is a "Look at my site" link, it will be removed. If it is a link that will help someone, it will probably be left alone. We may remove posted links at our discretion.
We do NOT allow advertising in the forums unless it is pre-approved by us.
We do NOT allow anyone to offer information for a fee.
Please do not ask to have info e-mailed to you, as it defeats the purpose of the forums.
Do not reply to a message with a "E-mail me for more information" post. It will be removed.
Please have patience, while there are alot of mechanics who frequent the forums, they all have regular jobs and try and get to the questions when they can.
We take the "be polite" rule VERY seriously! We do not tolerate ANY rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive will receive one warning (at our discretion), and if the member offends again the member will be banned without warning. Finally, any abuse towards our staff and/or management will result in immediate ban from the site.

Replying to a post

When you open a post and wish to reply to it, scroll down from the post and you will see a Post a follow up message box.
You can either leave the text already in the message box and enter your message above or below the text or you can highlight all the text and remove it.
Once you have typed your reply, scroll down to Preview Reply.
When the screen comes up, if you are satisfied with the post, click on Post Message and you are done.

QUESTION: Please explain the icons, hollow circle, solid square preceding the post replies, TIA
ANSWER:
Remember, the icons are all open to interpretation.
The icons, I am assuming you are referring to the smily faces and all.
They are just something to reflect your post.
The dots and numbers in parentheses, The first solid circle is the original post, hollow circle is a reply to the original post and squares are replies to those replies, NOT to the original post.
The number in parentheses is the number of replies to that specific post.

  - reply to post 2 (0)
  - reply to post 2 (0)
- second reply to Post 1 (1)
  - reply to second reply to Post 1 (0)
Comment can mean just about anything.

Using the Search

There are 2 ways to use the search on the forums.
Searching the current forum or searching all forums, including the archived forums.

1. Searching the current forum.
You can leave all but the Key Word or Name Search search lines open and only enter the keywords or name you want to search for and it will bring up the results from the current forum you are in.

2.Searching all forums and archives.
If you want to search all forums, including the archives, you MUST check the box that says Search ALL forums. Then enter the amount of past days you want to search thru, or leave it open.
Then enter the name or keywords you want to search for.

Using the search will bring up all posts relvent to the name or keywords you search for. If you wish to locate a post you made that has been archived, then check the Search ALL forums box and enter your name and click Start Search. It should bring up any post you made.
