Displaying, Reading and Clearing Trouble Codes
Trouble code indications are made by reading voltmeter deflections. To determine diagnostic code, proceed as follows:
- Turn ignition switch Off.
- Locate diagnostic connector (See below).
- Connect a suitable voltmeter between MPI-diagnosis terminal and ground.
- Turn ignition switch On and note that an immediate indication of ECU memory contents will begin and voltmeter will deflect accordingly.
- After recording the abnormal items, check and repair each part as directed in Self Diagnostic Test Charts.
- Turn ignition switch Off.
CLEARING ECU MEMORY
After repairs have been completed, disconnect battery ground cable for at least 10 to 15 seconds to erase codes from ECU memory.
