Fleetwood 5.7L 1993-95 VIN  position 8 = 7/P GM

General information

  • Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will illuminate if certain faults are recorded.
  • ECM operates in backup mode if sensors fail, to enable vehicle to be driven to repair shop.
  • Trouble codes can be displayed by the MIL, the AlC control panel, or by using a Scan Tool connected to the data link connector (OLC).

Accessing

Without using A/C control panel
  • Access data link connector (DLC).
  • Jump data link connector (DLC) terminals A and B [1].
  • Switch ignition ON. D0 NOT start engine.
  • MIL should flash.
  • Long flashes indicate the ‘tens’ of the trouble code [2] [A].
  • Short flashes indicate the ‘units’ of the trouble code [2] [C].
  • A short pause separates each flash [2] [B].
  • A long pause separates each trouble code [2] [D].
  • For example: Trouble code 12 displayed [2] .
  • Trouble code 12 will be displayed 3 times.
  • Each trouble code will be displayed three times.
  • If no trouble codes are stored, code 12 will continue to be displayed.
  • Trouble codes can also be displayed by using a Scan Tool connected to the data link connector (DLC) [1], located below center of fascia near SRS control module.
Using A/C control panel
  • Switch ignition ON.
  • Simultaneously press and hold ‘OFF’ and ‘TEMP UP’ buttons [3]- [1] & [2].
  • When all segments of the display H [3]-3 illuminate: Release the ‘OFF’ and ‘TEMP UP’ buttons [3]- [1] & [2].
  • Parameter number ‘-00’ (ECM codes) will be displayed [3] 3.
  • Press and release the ‘OUT TEMP’ button [3] 4.
  • Buttons ‘FAN SPEED UP’ and ‘FAN SPEED DOWN’ [3] 5 increase or decrease the parameter numbers.
  • Display will alternate between ECM parameter number ‘-00’ and the trouble code at 1.6 second intervals [3] 3.
  • Trouble codes will be displayed in ascending order.
  • Cycle will be repeated after all ECM trouble codes have been displayed.
  • If no ECM trouble codes are stored, trouble code ’00’ will be displayed.
  • To end diagnosis:
  • Press the ‘AUTO’ button [3] 6 .

Erasing

Without using A/C control panel
  • Ensure ignition switched OFF.
  • Disconnect battery ground cable for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect battery ground cable.
  • Repeat checking procedure to ensure no trouble codes remain in ECM fault memory.

NOTE: Disconnecting battery ground lead may also erase memory from electronic units, such as radio.

• Trouble codes can also be erased by using a Scan Tool connected to the data link connector (DLC) [1].
Using A/C control panel
  • Access ECM trouble codes.
  • During trouble code display:
o Press and hold ‘OFF’ [3] 2.
• When ’00’ is displayed [3] 3:
o Release the ‘OFF’ button [3] 2.
• To end diagnosis:
o Press the ‘AUTO’ button [3] 5.
