This car is truly a "one-of-a-kind". Hand built with the greatest attention to every detail, is what Gary Stock, from Bethalto, Illinois, is known for.
This car started its life with speed, functionability, safety and beauty in mind. The end result clearly shows that all of these goals were met, and then some. This car was custom designed from the start, and virtually every area of the car has been strengthened and modified.
Gary is no stranger to fast cars, and from his love for street rods, and history of drag racing, this car was designed. Most race cars are primarily designed with 100% racing in mind, nothing else. This car is so much more than that. With a few modifactions, that could be done in a weekend, this car would be on the road, maybe driving right past you. Gary decided when this project was started, that the car should be given alot of the same quailities that would be found in a "high dollar" street rod. As we go on with the article, I think you will see by the massive amounts of chrome and stainless, this car is defineately a "street rod" but, with an "attitude" (grin).

The car has a 110" wheel base and
weighs in "wet" at 2300lbs.

This car is virtually new. It has seen the strip and made 6 passes @9.90 seconds impressive for a new car the first time out, and this was BEFORE the blower and fuel injection was added!! The car was running a single carb on alcohol. The car has a 396cu in, 0.30 over (402 cu in) Big Block Chevy engine. This engine was professionally built by Part's Stop of Meadowbrook, Illinois. It has a complete Comp. roller cam, lifters, rockers, and is set up for the 671 Weiand Blower and the Enderle fuel injection. The engine is running on gas now, but can be easily re-jetted for alcohol if so desired. The transmission is a Powerglide with a B&M solenoid activated shifter, trans brake, and the converter has been specially built for the blown motor by Danny Boxdorfer, of Meadowbrook, Illinois. The body is a Hasting's Fiberglass body with the wheel wells modified. Gary performed all of the body modifications and preperation and then sprayed the car with '69 Camaro Hugger Orange enamel from PPG. The pictures do not do this car justice. It is a true work of art. The tube chassis,Pro Stock cage, and all of the metal fabrication were done by the magic of Dave Waters, Waters Racing of Alton, Illinois. The car is complete with drivers and passengers Pro Stock seats. The entire interior was done in aluminum. The door panels, floor, wheel tubs were also the work of Dave Waters. Dennis Paynic, Denny's Upholstery of Bethalto, Illinois, custom made the black headliner, and custom fitted the floor with black carpet. Lyon's Glass of Alton, Illinois was in charge of custom making all of the glass for the car. Dark tinted safety glass was used throughout the car. This car even has "roll up windows"!!

The car has dual fuel tanks. The "Moon" fuel tank on the front of the car, is fully functional PLUS there is a fuel cell in the trunk of the car.

The car is equipped with operating headlights, taillights. The front wrap around bumper is custom made as are the control arms used in the front of the car. Dave Waters of Alton, Illinois really did an excellent job on the metal work that went into making this car.

Here are a few pictures of the engine in this car. You can clearly see why Gary Stock is a "professional" at building cars. He has the greatest attention to every detail, and it shows. The picture to the left shows a bag with different size jets for the fuel injection system.
All of the chrome work on the car was performed by Eric of Precison Plating in Quincy, Illinois.

The interior views show the Pro Stock cage, seats, aluminum interior, B&M shifter and gauges. You cannot see it very well in the pictures,as night was quickly coming upon us,and threatening rain, but, in the center below the dash, there is a "Pro Panel" with all of the switches to operate the car. Inside the box for the panel, is the fuse panel for all of the various circuits. I custom made the wiring harness for the car. Every connection has been soldered and shrink tubed.

The car is equipped with Weld Pro Star wheels, 15X3 1/2 on the front with Goodyear Eagles and 15X15 on the rear with Firestone slicks.

The custom made A-arms, coil overs and a Pinto rack and pinion make up the front end. The brakes are JFZ 4 wheel disc.

The parachute and custom made rear wing, are proof positive that this car is built to have some serious fun. What is not shown, but is included with the car, are the custom made chrome wheelie bars. VERY NICE GARY!!! GREAT JOB!!!

The rear end is a Ford 9" with all Strange componets. It has 35 spline axles, 457 gears with spool. It is mounted to a 4 bar suspension equipped with heavy duty hyme joints. The coil overs are adjustable front and rear. The rear axle has extra bracing added for additional strength. To get a idea as to the height of the car, Gary is standing next to the car and he stands 6'0" tall. The ride height and stance of this car is perfect. Functional and it looks awesome!!
